You know I love to celebrate all of the things! Holidays are always fun for me and I especially love celebrating the 4th of July. Before my husband and I built the home we live in now, we lived in a cute but, much smaller home. We always chose to host the fourth because we were able to set up areas both inside and outside of our home for guests. Now that we have more space we still enjoy hosting this fun holiday! Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite ideas for celebrating July 4th, no matter if you are hosting a party or just celebrating at home with your family. Holidays are an opportunity to create fun traditions and memories.
One thing I always enjoy doing for holidays is setting up a fun tablescape.I’ve collected a lot of dishes and table linens over the years. The Dollar Tree can be a great place to find affordable and super cute things. Both the hobnail plates and blue placemats we’re finds from there.Something fun I love to add to our decor for the fourth is boxes of sparklers and pop-it’s. They are a fun addition to the decor and the kids love using them on the day of our cookout. Here’s a look at our table from last year. If you have littles and are worried about leaving them out you could always store them somewhere safe and use the empty boxes to decorate with. Okay, we all know that one of the biggest parts of any celebration in the food. I love a simple and themed party snack. I made these last year using watermelon, blueberries, scewers, and a small star cookie cutter. These pies are another favorite and so simple! All you need is frozen pie crusts, canned pie filling, and cute cookie cutters. Easy peasy!They are delicious served warm with vanilla ice cream!Here’s an easy and kid friendly idea. Just grab a box of grocery store ice cream sandwiches and dip them into patriotic sprinkles! Our girls love this simple treat, especially our middle daughter who has a big sweet tooth. Next up, store bought brownie bites, whipped topping, and blueberries/strawberries. Let your friends build their own brownie treats.
We know that snack boards are all the rage. Here’s an idea for a super simple one to create! Fresh fruit, cheese cut in the shape of stars, and crackers.
While we are talking about food. Here’s an idea for firework nights. Does your family go to watch a fireworks display? Our neighborhood puts one on and we also typically go to a community display. Last year I packed these snack boxes for my family to take along. I filled them with our favorite snacks and added a cute ribbon and tag to the outside of the boxes. If you’ve followed along for a while you know that I’m a girl mom. We have three teen girls and crafts have always been a part of our celebrations. This fun idea, although I confess a little cheesy (Red, White, and Shoe) was something we set up for our fourth celebration last summer. I purchased several pairs of flip flops from Dollar Tree. We used ribbon, flowers, and buttons in patriotic colors to decorate them. All of the ladies got to decorate a pair and take them home. Another fun craft idea that I enjoyed doing last year was this ribbon flag. I had a craft night with friends and we made these. We love adding patriotic banners to the outside of our home for the holiday. I found these at Big Lots last summer.Another smaller ribbon flag hangs in our entry. They are so simple and something to get out year after year for the holiday.
